The deposit of Sacred Relic in the Samadhi Buddha Statue which is coming up in the midst of the Mahayangana town took place at an auspicious time this morning.
The Samadhi Buddha statue is being constructed in Mahiyangana in parallel to the Sri Sambuddhatva Jayanthi. The deposit of relics took place with the participation of many guests. The Buddha Statue is being built by the Samadhi Buduruwa Trust Board of the Traders Association under the mediation of the Co-President of the Mahiyangana Traders Association. It will also be the largest Buddha statue to come up in Mahiyangana. The Sacred Relics were deposited in the Buddha Statue after being escorted in a colourful perahera.
The event took place with the participation of invitees including Deshabandu W. Vinyl. Parliamentarians Thenuka Vidanagamage and Chamika Buddhadasa, Uva Provincial Minister Anura Vidanagamage, Badulla District Secretary Rohana Dissanayake, ITN Chairman Rosmund Senaratne and Uva Senior DIG Pujitha Jayasundera were among those who joined in this occasion.
