Jun 16, 2011 11:52:17 AM - itnnews.lk

The second group of new university entrants is getting ready to accept the future of the country surmounting challenges through leadership training.

The second stage of the Leadership and Positive Attitude Development Course on behalf of the new university students is scheduled to be launched tomorrow. About 11,000 students with the intention of participating in this course reported to 28 training centres countrywide today. More than 10 thousand students participated in this training course under the first stage and there was high response from the students as well as the parents. Based on its success, the course for the second stage has been crafted with amendments. Certain drill displays have been withdrawn from the training programme. The Information Department said that two new training centres have been located at the Naval Training Centre in Medawachchiya and the Sri John Kotalawala Defence Academy in Ratmalana. The Training Programme is a joint effort by the Higher Education and Defence Ministries. English and Information Technology Courses are being launched for all university entrants after the leadership training. It is due to be staged at 231 centres. The Government’s intention is to mould a young generation armed with universal knowledge to suit the modern world for University entrance.
