The second stage of the Leadership Training Course on behalf of the University entrants got off the grounds today. More than 10,000 students will be receiving training under this training.
The programme is a joint effort by the Higher Education Ministry and the Defence Ministry. Students reported yesterday to the 28 training centres established countrywide to participate in this course. It will continue for three weeks. More than 10,000 received training under the first stage. Two new training centres have been setup at the Naval Training Centre in Medawachchiya and Sir John Kotalawala Defence Academy in Ratmalana.
There had been high response for this novel training programme from the parents as well as the children. A notable feature witnessed today was the presence of students who participated in the first training course to welcome the students of the second stage. The students pointed out that they are fortunate to have participated in such training. Even the parents appreciated the training given to their children.
