Defence Secretary calls on patriots to join hands again to save the country from alien forces

Jun 17, 2011 11:17:12 AM - itnnews.lk

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has said that patriots who came forward to save the motherland in the past should take the lead in safeguarding the motherland again from alien forces.

The Defence Secretary said the LTTE rump in the world, with the support of the international community, was attempting to meet the aspirations which the LTTE terrorists including Prabhakaran in the past could not achieve by dividing the country.  This should not be taken lightly. He pointed out that as a country, these attempts to be defeated as Prabhakaran and the terrorists were defeated. Some first go to the US Embassy in the country when an incident took place within. Therefore he said initial queries were being raised from the US Embassy. The Channel Four video footage shows LTTE terrorists. The terrorists appearing in the video footage had been involved in the killing of members of the Sangha of East. He was also involved in the murder of 600 police officers. He had also killed innocent mothers and children in villages. The video footage had been shown without making any mention of this person. This has been done to give to the world a wrong impression on Sri Lanka.

He was speaking during a special programme jointly launched by the Karuna Samadhi Foundation and the Western Provincial Agricultural Ministry in remembrance of war heroes who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the country. It was a concept of Provincial Minister Udaya Gammanpila. Various programmes to bestow merits on the war heroes were held in addition to the awarding of Viru Daru Scholarship of the children of war heroes.
