The war heroes are making a vital contribution to strengthen the yields of the country which has been liberated from terrorism.
These war heroes are shouldering the National Programme of making the country self sufficient. They have cultivated 711 acres of land in Kilinochchi. These soldiers who are lending their strength to enrich the agricultural lands in Kilinochchi through cultivations such as fruits, vegetables, potatoes, chillies and onions, instead of the landmines buried by the terrorists, are an example to everyone. 250 acres at the Kilinochchi Defence Headquarters, 400 acres in Kaneshpuram, 300 acres of the 65th division in Thunukkai and lands of the 10th Infantry Regiment have been cultivated and are ready for harvesting.
In appreciation of this task of the Army on behalf of the country, Minister S.M. Chandrasena said they were being provided with the required seeds, fertilizer, water, agricultural implements and advisory services. He expressed this view during a visit to these cultivated lands.
