A large crowd of health conscious people came together in Colombo recently to walk in support of a campaign to promote prevention as a more economical alternative to curing health problems.
Organised by Ceylinco Healthcare Centre (CHC) as a precursor to its Health Screening Month programme this month (June), the walk culminated with a health camp at which participants received free health checks.
The checks included tests for blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass, vision, height and weight. Participants also received free medical advice from doctors.
As part of its month-long initiative to promote early detection, the CHC has introduced three special screening packages comprising of a series of tests covering general health as well as weight, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and vision and can be expanded to include liver profile, renal profile, thyroid and kidney function and other tests.
A spokesperson for the Centre said the participation of a large number of people in the walk was an encouraging sign that the Centre’s message on the importance of prevention was being heard.
CHC and Ceylinco Diabetes Centre are ground-breaking projects of Ceylinco Healthcare Services Ltd. (CHSL), a Ceylinco Life subsidiary, the country’s leading life insurer.
