Change of Army recruiting command ceremony set

Lt. Col. Chris Forsythe, a University of South Carolina graduate, will take over command of the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Columbia.

Current commander Lt. Col. Charlester (Chuck) White will relinquish command at 9 a.m. Friday during a formal ceremony at the Fort Jackson Officer Club.

White’s next assignment is with Space and Missile Defense Command at Redstone Arsenal, near Huntsville, Ala.

Before coming to Columbia Battalion, Forsythe was the G8/comptroller for the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. He has served numerous tours at Fort Bragg, N.C., as the resource management officer, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) and commander, Charlie Company, 82nd Soldier Support Battalion (Airborne) as well as commander of the 82nd Financial Management Co.

This is Forsythe’s first assignment in South Carolina since his graduation in 1993 from USC.
