Channel Fours falsehood revealed to journalists

Jun 21, 2011 11:18:02 AM - itnnews.lk

Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris reveals of Channel 4’s falsehood in vilifying Sri Lanka. Giving views at a media conference in Colombo today, the Minister said it was a massive conspiracy to bring down Sri Lanka’s economy.

The Minister said that experts claim that the recording could not be done through a mobile phone and there was no coordination between the audio and the visuals. The other was the background. As an example, he said if there was gunfire, the birds are disturbed and they fly away. But in the video footage there was the continuous sound of the birds. When taking these into consideration it proves that this is fake.

Initially it was released when the European Commission was holding a meeting in Brussels to take a decision whether the GSP facility would be further extended to Sri Lanka for three years. If the meeting was scheduled for tomorrow, it was released the previous day.  The second instance was the release of the report on the day before he was to meet British Foreign Secretary William Hague in London.  The third instance was when President Rajapaksa was in the United Kingdom to deliver a speech at the Oxford Union. The Minister queried as to what the aim of this effort was. He emphasized that the time had been determined to achieve a political aim.
