Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has said that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Interim Committee Chairman, D. S. de Silva and Secretary, Nishantha Ranatunge will travel to in India tomorrow to meet the officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Aluthgamage has said that de Silva and Ranatunge would discuss with the BCCI officials to convince them to permit a few Indian cricketers to participate in the forthcoming Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL).
The minister has been quoted as saying, “I have instructed the chairman and the secretary to rush to India and convince the Indian board officials to allow their players to play in our tournament.”
“The chairman will be directly arriving from London, where he has been with the Sri Lanka team and Ranatunge will join him from Sri Lanka.”
The first of the SLPL tournament is to commence on July 19 till August 4 this year.
