A network of hotlines will be introduced to extend the dengue treatment facilities.
The aim of the service is to provide advice from specialist doctors to patients suffering from dengue whenever required. Associations of pediatricians and Neurosurgeons have extended their support towards the programme. Three specialist doctors of the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital and Colombo National Hospital have been appointed in this connection. The Health Ministry has said that their phone numbers will be used as hotlines. The Ministry also initiated a programme to review the dengue deaths at the national level. The aim is to strengthen the treatment process. The programme will investigate into the reasons that caused deaths and take preventive measures in the future.
