The President has intervened to solve the problems of the Sri Lanka Transport Board.
A discussion with regard to the future programme of the SLTB was held at the Temple Trees under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The SLTB Trade Union representatives pointed out that the current problems in the SLTB were caused due to the incompetence and corruption of past Governments. The President advised the authorities to take necessary action while protecting the SLTB employees and providing an efficient service to the public. The President also instructed the relevant authorities on how to solve problems pertaining to salaries and gratuity payments. Ministers Kumara Welgama, C.B. Ratnayake, Deputy Minister Rohana Disanayayake, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga were amongst the officials who were present.
