Patriotic people have emphasized that Channel 4 which attempted to discredit Sri Lanka before the international community and all other parties that supported it should apologize to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to UN and Deputy Permanent Representative Maj. Gen. Shavendra Silva exposed the false information telecast by Channel 4 before its production team and the international community. The Channel 4 production team was rendered speechless before the revelation. Within several hours following this revelation the spokesman of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Martin Nesirki issuing a special statement said that they cannot accept certain incidents portrayed in the Channel 4 documentary. Maj. Gen. Shavendra Silva explained that certain misleading information with regard to the UN Headquarters was also contained in the video. He pointed out that the information provided by the doctor in the Channel 4 documentary was also inaccurate. The Sri Lankan Ambassador attempted to present the genuine voice of the relevant doctor from the internet as it was telecast over ITN in the past although the representatives present did not allow it. The ITN still has the true details pertaining to the relevant doctor in its possession. It was only one point brought forth by Shavendra Silva. After revealing this information the Channel 4 or the other international organizations that support it, will not be able to provide false information against Sri Lanka. If they are unable to support the progress of Sri Lanka it would be appropriate for them to maintain silence. The patriotic people are of the view that placing obstacles on its path is highly undesirable.
