Twenty-three year old Kenyatta Andre Bryant of Columbia was found guilty today for his part in the March 2010 shooting death of Andrew Decker of Columbia and sentenced to 45 years in state prison.
The other suspect in the case, Jonathan J. Holloway, has not been tried yet.
According to evidence presented during the trial, Decker, 23, was shot during a robbery-gone-bad, the state solicitors office said.
At the time of his arrest, Bryant claimed he was just a bystander to the shooting. He became a suspect after authorities talked to Holloway, the other suspect in the case, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said at the time.
Bryant, Holloway and Decker were out together when the attempted robbery occurred. Decker was shot in the face. His body was found slumped in the front seat of a car on the 2700 block of Brady Street, near the intersection of Two Notch Road and Beltline Boulevard.
