In a message issued on the International Anti-drug Day, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that all humanitarian forces should be mobilized against the drug abuse which is a menace to the society. He said that the next challenge to be overcome is the drug menace after terrorism was eliminated for the good of the society. He said that the Mahinda Chintana policy was presented to the nation, giving priority to the programme of eliminating drugs. He said that the results of the programme can be witnessed today. He stressed that the law enforcement agencies against drug trafficking are highly active today. Those who are connected to the drug trade are not able to evade the law. The cooperation and the interest of the society are important in this connection. He said that the government intervention will be fruitful only under such conditions. The President called on the people to come together against drugs in transforming the motherland to be a harmonious country. Meanwhile a number of programmes have been organized to mark the International Anti-drug Day. The theme of the anti-drug day is ‘to be dedicated towards empowering the future of a dignified Nation’.
