Economists are uncertain what to expect when South Carolina employment officials release the state's jobless numbers for March.
The state's unemployment rate will be released on Friday.
February's rate was 12.5 percent, unchanged from the revised number for January and a record high for the state.
Economist Don Schunk said last month he thinks the next few months will be up and down in terms of employment for South Carolina.
Nationally, the Labor Department reported this week that initial claims for unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly for the second straight week. States reporting jobless rates earlier this week showed a mix of higher and lower rates.
