The state senate voted unanimously today just before noon to confirm Mark Keel as the sixth chief of the State Law Enforcement Division.
Keel, 53, standing outside Senate chambers at the State House, was immediately surrounded by senators congratulating him on his new post at the state's most high profile crime-fighting agency.
“Grand slam home run – one of Gov. (Nikki) Haley's best nominations,” said Sen. John Courson, R-Richland.
Keel told reporters he had achieved a lifelong dream.
