Measures are in place to amend the Computer Crimes Prevention Act. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications has taken appropriate action in this respect. The required advice has been secured from the Attorney General’s Department. At present there is a rise of crime committed through computers. The Police had made the Government aware of the increasing number of complaints that are being received. The Government has decided to amend the related Act, so that there are wide powers for the investigation of such crimes. The amended Draft Bill has already been directed to the Attorney General. A spokesman for the Attorney General’s Department said that a group of legal luminaries was already studying the Bill.
