Representatives of the Commonwealth Games Federation have said that it is suitable to hold the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Sri Lanka. Representatives of the Commonwealth Games Federation Evaluation Commission met President Rajapaksa and informed their appreciation. The delegation headed by Louise Martin arrived in Sri Lanka with the purpose of evaluating the situation in Sri Lanka for the conduct of the Commonwealth Games. The group is scheduled to be in the island for four days. Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral said it is the opinion of the delegation that a conducive situation prevails in Sri Lanka to hold the Games. President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and Secretary to the Sports Ministry Udaya Seneviratne were among those present at this meeting.
