Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gillani has extended an invitation to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne to visit Pakistan through Industries Minister Rishard Bathiudeen.
The Pakistan media has reported that the Pakistani Premier has extended this invitation during a meeting with a visiting Sri Lankan delegation headed by Rishad Bathiudeen, at the Prime Minister’s House inIslamabad.
According to the APP, Premier Gillani has said that he was looking forward to meet President Rajapaksa in theMaldivesat the next SAARC Summit in November this year.
Gillani has also expressed the desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and welcomed the convening of Joint Economic Commission inColombo, to be held after a gap of six years.
