The President says measures are being taken to address nutrition and aspirations of people

The President has said that measures have been taken to improve the nutrition in people in the same way democratic rights were established after eliminating suspicion and fear from their minds.President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed these views addressing the inaugural function of the 2011 International animal husbandry and feeding fair at the BMICH. After inaugurating the fair the President viewed the stalls and the model farm. Number of countries including India, Pakistan and Australia participate in the fair. Expressing his views the President said that the government has been able to implement techniques successfully to protect agriculture and livestock.

The President said that the country has to be developed and that is why sectors such as habours, airports and expressways are being developed although some have misgivings in this regard. He said that the government has taken over the responsibility of developing livestock industry amidst all these activities as it forms a part of the journey towards becoming the Wonder of Asia. It is proper to say that an agricultural revolution is taking place. He said that the parents should make sure that their children are intelligent, virtuous, healthy and strong in order to create a powerful nation.

Minister Arumugam Thondaman and Deputy Minister H. R. Mitrapala also addressed the gathering. Senior government officials were also amongst the invited guests.
