President Rajapaksa opens the new Buddha Mandiraya built at the Samadhi Buddhist Centre at Kothalawalapura in Ratmalana.
The opening of the new Buddha Mandiraya took place this morning. Construction work was launched during the period President Rajapaksa was serving as the Opposition Leader. A notable feature is that the complex being opened by him as the President of the country. The Buddha Mandiraya was built under the guidance of the Ven. Mapalagama Buddhasiri Thera, Chief Sanganayake of Hinidum Pathuwa in the Galle Division and Head of the Samadhi Buddhist Centre in Ratmalana.
The President launched the website containing information on the service of the prelate to the Sasana and the plaque of the Buddha Mandiraya. Anunayaka of the Malwatta Chapter the Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera unveiled the Buddha Statue. Alms were offered to the Maha Sangha. Members of the Maha Sangha, Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena were among those present.
