The Government has announced that restrictions imposed on Northern fishermen requiring them to obtain passes for fishing has been lifted.
The Information Department said that these conditions have been withdrawn with effect from today. Obtaining of a special permit had been mandatory for fishermen engaged in fishing in the Northern Sea. However the Government took the initiative of withdrawing many restrictions after the end of the Northern operations. However it was necessary to secure a special permit for fishing. This too has been withdrawn from today. Accordingly fishermen can venture into the sea and engage in their profession in freedom.
