Jul 9, 2011 3:26:37 PM - thesundayleader.lk

The Sunday Leader will vigorously defend a plaint filed by Attorney-at-Law N. Laduwahetty seeking relief for an alleged purported defamation of character in relation to articles published in this newspaper captioned  ‘S. Thomas College Prefects Assault Fellow Thomian’ in its February 20, issue of The Sunday Leader and a follow-up article titled ‘Nine Thomians Assaulted by Senior Prefects.’
The plaintiff is seeking a total of rupees one billion by way of damages.
The Sunday Leader will seek to vacate the enjoining order issued exparté in the District Court of Colombo by Colombo’s Additional District Judge T. D. Paul Ratnayake Associates moved the Court on behalf of the petitioner.
The Sunday Leader will be represented by Presidents Counsel Nigel Hatch and Attorney-at-Law Faizer Musthapha with Samararatne Associates as instructing attorneys.
