The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has appealed to the public to use water sparingly.
The Board said that if the prevailing dry weather conditions continue in the coming weeks, the supply of water to Greater Colombo and surrounding areas will have to be restricted. So far there is no risk of limiting water supplies. However, the Board has advised to use water sparingly. Water consumption has risen as a result of the prevailing dry weather conditions. The National Water Supply and Drainage Board said that around 120 to 130 million gallons of water was being released daily from the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant.
