FUTA Decides Not To Submit Marking Schemes

Jul 11, 2011 9:16:55 AM - thesundayleader.lk

University academics have decided not to submit marking schemes for the answer scripts to evaluate the GCE Advanced Level examination papers.

The Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) has said that the A/Level evaluation process could not be carried out without the marking scheme.

FUTA President, Dr. Nirmal Dewasiri has told the media that the A/Level examination paper evaluation process could not commence without the marking schemes that includes guidelines to be considered during the evaluation.

Dr. Dewasiri has said the decision was arrived at the executive committee meeting of the FUTA following comments made by Education Minister Gunawardena on the university academics’ union action.

The academics have said that the Education Minister has insulted the academics and has mocked their demand for the promised wage hike.
