The casting of postal votes in the Local Government Elections is scheduled to begin tomorrow. Postal votes will be cast from tomorrow for 65 Local Councils countrywide. The number of public workers eligible to cast their postal votes is 60 thousand 546. A permanent representative of the Elections Secretariat is scheduled to be appointed to the Postal Head Office, the Armed Forces Headquarters, Zonal Educational Offices and Bus Depots where there is a high number of voters. The present Government has accorded much relief to public servants. It was the present administration which introduced not only salary increments and cost of living allowances but new incentives based on the discharge of duties. The present Government had also granted three days of special leave when a state employee becomes a father. It is in the process of building houses for public employees and granting further relief.
Meanwhile the Elections Secretariat said facilities have been provided to obtain the support of another person for visually impaired as well as totally disabled persons.
