The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) ofSri Lankais to launch a new national green award to recognize the environmental services rendered by production and technical firms.
CEA Chairman Charitha Herath has said that the National Greed Award organized under the Environment Ministry would be the country’s main environmental award from this year.
The awards ceremony is to be organized to coincide with the CEA’s 30th anniversary.
Apart from the awards, the CEA has organized a special seminar for environmental entrepreneurs, an environmental souvenir, an island-wide public awareness programme and special media programmes.
Herath has said the official awards ceremony of the Presidential Environmental Green Awards would be held on August 23 at the BMICH under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
