Update: The National Weather Service has upgraded its Columbia-area heat advisory to an excessive heat warning effective through 9 p.m. tonight. Heat index values will range from 110 to 115, with actual temperatures around 100.

Temperatures hovering at 100 degrees are forecast for the next two days as an upper-level high anchors itself over the Southeast.
And with Columbias ever-present humidity, the heat index should make it feel more like 110 to 112, according to the National Weather Service.
