Massive development was taking place in the North, while facilities given to the civilians are also being further expanded.
The Government has unveiled a massive programme to develop the North with its liberation from the terrorists. A significant development plan was mooted by Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the behest of the President. “Northern Spring” was the programme that has been put in place. As a result, spring has already dawned in the North. Speedy development is being effected to roads and infrastructure. Security of the people has been guaranteed. The programme to uplift their infrastructure is in progress.
The Northern polity is already engaged in their day to day lives in a free and peaceful atmosphere. A programme from village to village in the North is also being mooted by the Government to further look into the problems confronted by the civilians. Action has already been taken to look into the roads, water and electricity supplies and educational and health facilities of remote villages and finding speedy solutions to the problems. Such a programme was launched in the Valikamam North Divisional Secretariat Division under the patronage of Deputy Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena. A high response has already been received for this programme.
