Boil water advisory issued for Shop Road area

A water main break has prompted Columbia water officials to issue a boil water advisory for people who live or work on Shop Road between South Beltline Boulevard and Pineview Road and the surrounding area.
Any residents who have lost water pressure or noticed discoloration in their water in that area also should boil their water.
The 24-inch water main break could result in bacterial contamination in the water. Water should be boiled vigorously for at least one minute before it is used in food or for drinking, including making ice.
Work to repair the water main break has blocked two lanes of traffic along Shop Road, not far from the intersection with Beltline Boulevard. Rachael Myers Lowe
