The Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Ministry says that 1,000 self employed persons in the Jaffna District are to be given concessionary loans to improve their livelihood.
Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera says that the selected self employed persons would be able to get loans that goes up to a maximum limit of Rs. 250,000 at an annual interest rate of 4% with a pay back period of 10 years.
The beneficiaries of this special loan scheme have been selected by the divisional secretariats in the Jaffna District.
The loan scheme is to be inaugurated today at a ceremony under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa where loans worth Rs. 180 million would be distributed.
The project has been initiated by the Rehabilitation Authority together with the Bank of Ceylon.
