Lightning lit up the skies over the Midlands on Wednesday – and the ground in at least one case in which a barn was destroyed.
Lexington County Fire Service crews were called to 344 Peach Tree Ext., Gilbert, during the storm when lightning struck a storage barn on the property, the fire service said.
The lighning ignited the 30-foot by 30-foot building, which was completely destroyed. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to an urgent care facility, the fire service said.
No animals were housed in the building.
