Many development projects at Valikamam in Jaffna have been vested in the public. Construction on more projects has lso been launched. Many public amenities in the Jaffna District which were ravaged by the terrorists have been upgraded under the Uthuru Wasanthaya Programme of Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the behest of the President. Many development projects within the Thelippalai Divisional Secretariat Division and in the Valikamam North Pradeshiya Sabha have been vested in the public, under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Construction work on many projects has also been launched. Work on the Thelippalai Bus Stand, the Market Complex and several roads was mooted. The Thelippalai Bus stand will incur an expenditure of 125 million rupees. The Market Complex will cost 77 million rupees while the allocations made for road development is 128 million rupees. The Government’s intention is to visit the villages in the Northern Peninsula, look into the needs of the people and fulfill their infrastructure needs. Minister Douglas Devananda and Deputy Minister Rohitha Abeygunawrdena joined in the launch of work on these projects. Civilians have appreciated the efforts made by the Government to effect development to the North, inquiring into their needs. A civilian said that they are upbeat about the development unleashed by the Government led by the President after the war. He said he was thankful to the Government on behalf of the entire civilians of the North who anticipated peace. He was glad that the work on the bus stand has been launched.
A woman pointed out that she was extremely happy about the supermarket and the bus stand that they would be getting.
