The Final Maha Perahera of the Ruhuna Kataragama Esala Festival will parade the streets tomorrow. The Independent Television Network will telecast the Perahera live. The Perahera of the14-day Kataragama Esala Festival will parade the streets tomorrow. It is believed that more than one million people will be present to view this colourful Perahera. Even a large number of devotees had arrived in the sacred area from the North and the East. The Police and the Army are providing security. In addition special attention has been diverted to the provision of health and sanitary facilities. The Perahera which will begin from the Kataragama Maha Devale will wend its way up to Kirivehera. Thereafter the Perahera which will reach the Walli Amma Devale via Pita Veediya is due to return to the Kataragama Maha Devale precincts. The Perahera is being organised on the advice of the Chief Incumbent of Kirivehera the Ven. Dr. Aluthwewa Soratha Thera and the guidance of the Basnayake Nilame Shashindra Rajapaksa. Vital contributions are being made for the success of the Perahera by the Kataragama Divisional Secretariat, the Pradeshiya Sabha, the Armed Forces and the Police.
There will be a live telecast of the final Kataragama Perahera over ITN tomorrow from 10.00 p.m. onwards.
