The City of Columbia Waterworks has lifted its boil-water advisory for some customers on Shop Road.
Customers between Pineview Road and South Beltline Boulevard no longer need to boil their water, the utility said. The advisory resulted from a 24-inch water main break. A lane of Shop Road in the area remains closed as work continues on repaiars.
An advisory affecting one side of a block of Gervais Street remains in effect pending tests confirming the water is safe. The break in an 8-inch water line means water for even-numbered addresses on the 900 block of Gervais, between Lincoln and Park streets, could have bacterial contamination.
Affected eateries include Motor Supply Company, Pearlz, Nonah's and Longhorn Steakhouse.
The water can be made safe for drinking, cooking and ice-making by boiling it for one full minute.
