Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Ministry says that a special investigations unit set up at the Ministry has received hundreds of complaints on corruption and irregularities among senior prison officials.
Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera has said the investigations unit has received over 300 complaints on corruption and irregularities in the prisons.
He has said that the complaints have been received about officials at the Prison Headquarters and those in several prisons.
Gajadeera has observed that the investigations unit is headed by a legal consultant and that an inquiry would be conducted in to every complaint.
He has added that disciplinary action would be taken against those found guilty.
