The Kodikamam–Point Pedro highway in Jaffna has been reopened after 11 years.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa reopened the bridge this afternoon. Expressing his views, the Minister said that the President’s intention was to grant the right of all communities to live in co-existence and bring prosperity to them. Mr. Rajapaksa pointed out that Sri Lanka’s economy suffered a serious set back following the three decade war. However he said the economy was now improving and the desire of the President was to pass on the dividends to the people of the South as well as the North. Ministers Douglas Devananda and Rishath Bathiyuydeen and Deputy Minister M.L.A.M. Hisbullah were present on this occasion.
