Jul 16, 2011 11:01:27 AM - itnnews.lk

The Government is aiming to setup centres known as Seva Piyasa in all Districts that provide a number of services under one roof.

Minister W.D.J. Senviratne said that the aim is to provide an efficient public service. The Minister said that the services of Grama Niladharis, Agricultural Officers and Samurdhi Officials as well as Family Heath workers are required at some point in life. Various problems can arise in obtaining their services. He said that it is in response to these issues that they were brought under one roof. The Minister said that there are 14,000 Grama Seva Divisions in the country. These services will be provided for all those areas. The Minister expressed these views at the inauguration of three Seva Piyasa Centres in the Elapatha Divisional Secretariat area in Ratnapura. The centres in Samangama, Amuwala and Magurugoda Grama Seva Divisions were inaugurated by the Minister.  Three thousand rupees each was donated to families having disabled members while 150 people were presented with land deeds. Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekera and Parliamentarian Janaka Wakkumbura were amongst those who participated in the occasion.
