The ‘Kap planting ceremony’ will take place on the 31st while the Kumbal Perahera will start on 4th of August. The first Randoli Perahera which begins on the 9th will continue till the 13th. The Esala Perahera Festival will come to an end on the 14th after the water cutting ceremony and the afternoon procession held on the same day. At a media briefing held for the heads of media organizations, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said that in the future there could be a shortage of tuskers to carry the casket of relics.
