More UNP activists and supporters join the Alliance

The Local Government Election day is nearing. With the election fever high, many stalwarts of the opposition including regional activists are joining the Freedom Alliance. The Gampaha District Opposition Leader and Coordinating Secretary and the UNP Propaganda Secretary of Attanagalle have joined the Alliance. The Opposition Leader and Gampaha District Coordinating Secretary Attorney J.A. Kularatne and Propaganda Secretary Tyrone Silva said they have endorsed the development programme of the Government. They pledged support in the future for every activity of the Government. Another group of UNP supporters within the Kegalle town limits has joined the Freedom Alliance. They met Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath and assured support to the Freedom Alliance. Two candidates contesting the Seruwila Pradeshiya Sabha in the Trincomalee District from the UNP and a large group of supporters have decided to support the Government. At a public meeting at Seruwila, they obtained SLFP membership from Deputy Minister M.K.A. D.S. Gunawardena. A group of UNP activists of the Dedigama Electorate has crossed over to the Freedom Alliance. They obtained party membership from Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. More UNP supporters of the Hingurakgoda Pradeshiya Sabha Authority area have crossed over to the Freedom Alliance. They obtained membership of the Alliance from Minister Maithripala Sirisena at a public meeting at Kimbulawala. They said they took the decision as they had a clear awareness of the massive development launched by the Government.
