Housing problem of Colombo will be sorted out in five years – Minister

The Housing Minister has assured that the housing problem within the Colombo District will be sorted out within the next five years. Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that Janasevana was a programme mooted for the benefit of the people. It has been targeted at every homeless family. The Minister referred to plans to provide land to the landless and further expand the programme next year. Whatever challenges the Government confronted it will not neglect services launched for the benefit of the people. He assured to further expand the Janasevana programme. The Minister was addressing a function organized to handover 7.5 million rupees as housing assistance for 51 low income families in Kesbewa. Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority Jayantha Samaraweera and many state officials were present.
