Spartanburg authorities are releasing information about a prosecutor's review of a deadly children's train ride accident.
The Spartanburg Public Safety Department says Director Tony Fisher on Tuesday is discussing Solicitor Scarlett Wilson's review of a report by county officials. Their report blamed the March 19 crash on excessive speed and said the train was going nearly three times faster than recommended when it rolled off its tracks and into a ditch.
The Charleston prosecutor was asked to determine if any criminal charges are warranted after Spartanburg Solicitor Barry Barnette had a conflict.
Benji Easler was killed and 28 others injured when the park train ride derailed. On Monday, the spokesman for Pastor Dwight Easler said the family was told no one will be charged criminally in the crash.
