Action has been initiated to immediately reopen 91 Health Centress which had been closed down in the past. 66 of these entres are located in the Northern and Eastern regions. There were severe obstructions to the health services in these areas due to terrorism which prevailed for nearly three decades. Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has taken the initiative to provide the doctors needed for these Centres. Accordingly, the Minister is confident that these Institutions could be re-opened within next month. 26 Central Dispensaries, 26 District Hospitals and 20 Primary Medical Service Units had been shut down in the past. The Health Ministry said 15 Centres are located in the Kilinochchi District.
