The second major heat wave this summer is on its way to South Carolina.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory Wednesday for six Pee Dee counties, saying it may feel like 108 degrees by the afternoon. But forecasters say it is just a preview of the dangerous heat spreading to the state from the middle of the country.
The humidity will rise and cause the heat index to climb as the week goes on. By Friday the weather service says it could feel close to 115 degrees in the eastern part of the state away from the coast and up to 110 degrees in much of the rest of the South Carolina.
Overnight lows forecast to be in the upper 70s won't provide much relief.
