Sri Lankans domiciled in Britain are commemorating the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi.
A series of special programmes to apprise the global community of the Buddhist Vision in parallel to the Sambuddhatva Jayanthi was held at the Thames Buddhist Vihare in Britain. These were held under the patronage of its Chief Incumbent and Chief Sanghanayaka of Great Britain the Ven. Pahalagama Somarathana Thera. A memento was presented on behalf of the programmes mooted by President Rajapaksa for the propagation of the Dhamma and peace. It was received on behalf of the President by Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in United Kingdom G.M. Amza. Mayor of Croydon Graham Base and British Parliamentarians Malcom Wicks and Gravin Baravel represented the British Government.
