Many public services in Ruwanwella are vested in school children and the public.
The Walagamba Vidyalaya at Galapitamada, Ruwanwella in the Kegalle District was launched about 120 years ago. More than 820 students are studying. These children faced enormous difficulties due to the lack of physical resources. The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council took the initiative of finding solutions to the lack of space in the school. A new three storied building built to ease congestion was vested in the students yesterday.
The Ruwanwella Tamil Vidyalaya is the only school available for Tamil children living in Attanagalla to pursue their studies. More than 345 students are studying in this school. The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council took the measures needed to enhance facilities for these children. It was in this respect that the Information Technology Unit of the school was opened.
Meanwhile a new bridge linking Siyambalawala and Pethangoda in Ruwanwella has been declared open. The people of the area experienced various difficulties following the destruction of the old bridge at this location. The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council built the new bridge within a short period of two months to solve their problems.
The opening of many public services within the Ruwanwella Electorate took place under the patronage of Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath.
