Trial is set for next month for a former Socastee High School student charged with bringing with bringing pipe bombs to school and wounding a police officer.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported the teen goes on trial Aug. 8.
He's being tried as an adult on charges of attempted murder and three counts of transporting or possessing components of a destructive device stemming from the shooting last September. He faces up to 30 years if convicted.
According to testimony at earlier hearings, the teen wrote he hoped to shoot up the school like the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Colorado.
Defense attorneys argued he should be tried in Family Court, where penalties are less severe. They argued he was bullied by classmates and needs mental health treatment.
