$3.5 billion proposal calls for mall-like retail, lacks imagination
There is so much financial fantasy in a British developer's $3.5 billion plan for redeveloping 20 acres including the old Chicago post office building that the proposal seems straight out of Disney. A 2,000-foot skyscraper? Acres of retail space? In this economy? One thinks of Noel Coward's famous line about mad dogs and Englishmen going out in the midday sun.
