President Rajapaksa has issued instructions to officials to give priority to rural development in parallel to the Deyata Kirula. The President did so by joining in an inspection tour of the Deyata Kirula exhibition premises at Oyamaduwa. He told them that priority should be given to the development of rural areas in parallel to the 6th Deyata Kirula exhibition in Anuradhapura. He also told the officials that all tanks in Anuradhapura should be reconstructed. It is planned to hold the next Deyata Kirula exhibition at Oyamaduwa in Thanthirimale on an extent spanning 2600 acres in parallel to next year’s Independence Day. The processing of 1300 acres has already commenced. The exhibition will be held on 500 acres of land while another section will be used to meet the needs of the Army. Another part will be developed as a dairy farm.
The President also inspected this section. The President gave instructions to the officials to carryout the development activities so that the people can make optimum benefits after the exhibition. He also seized the opportunity to have a cordial conversation with the people present. They briefed the President on the drinking water problem they are facing and the President announced that solutions would be found in parallel to the Deyata Kirula.
The President paid a visit to the Kassapa Vidyalaya at Oyamaduwa and talked with the children as well as the staff. He instructed the North Central Chief Minister Bertie Premalal Dissanayake to look into the shortcomings of the school.
