A Red Flag Alert is in effect for all but three of the state’s county.
In those three counties — Georgetown, Horry and Marion — outdoor burning is banned. In all other counties, officials encourage residents to avoid outdoor burning, though it is not banned.
The S.C. Forestry Commission first issued the alert Friday.
Meanwhile, Lexington County residents are under a ban on general debris burning in unicorporated areas until further notice. That ban, also issued Friday by the Lexington County Fire chief, includes all outdoor burning with the exception of fires related to forestry, wildlife and agriculture burns and fires for cooking of food for immediate consumption.
